UN agencies define the standards for safe and efficient transport by air and sea, help improve telecommunications and enhance consumer protection, work to ensure respect for intellectual property rights and coordinate allocation of radio frequencies. The United Nations leads the international campaigns against drug trafficking and terrorism. Throughout the world, the UN and its agencies assist refugees and set up programs to clear landmines, help improve the quality of drinking water and expand food production, make loans to developing countries and help stabilize financial markets.

Its purposes are to promote the unity and solidarity of the African States, defend the sovereignty of members, eradicate all forms of colonialism and promote international cooperation having due regard for the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Council of Europe is an intergovernmental organization which aims to protect human rights, pluralist democracy and the rule of law; to promote awareness and encourage the development of Europe’s cultural identity and diversity; and to seek solutions to problems facing European society. 41 countries represent the Council of Europe.
